Welcome from the Head of KC16
Welcome to KC Post 16!
Kingsthorpe College Sixth Form combines a drive for academic excellence with a supportive pastoral programme and unfailing encouragement for extra-curricular trips, volunteering and experiences. Thank you for visiting us and taking the opportunity to see what we have to offer. We understand that choosing your Post 16 options is a daunting process at times and we are happy to help you in any way we can.
As Head of Sixth, I am exceptionally proud of the pastoral support we provide for our Post 16 students; we ensure we know our students well in order to offer them personalised support throughout their time with us.
Our students not only have the support of their Heads of Year and Deputy Head of Year but from our experienced tutor team as well as enthusiastic and committed teaching staff. We feel our sixth form offers all the routine and support of school with added independence.
Our Post 16 centre is exclusively for the use of our sixth form students during the school day and is available as a space for them to study after school; we have laptops that can be used and various work spaces to facilitate both group and individual work. Our students all undertake a week’s work experience and we encourage volunteering. We support extra-curricular activities and are constantly looking for opportunities for our students to experience including lectures at leading universities as well as trips which contribute to cultural capital.
It is a great privilege to work with our young adults and help them to take their next steps in the world whether that be to university (including Oxbridge and universities abroad), apprenticeships, work or travel. Our UCAS process is thorough and we are extremely successful helping students into their first choice of university and we are able to offer specialised support (interview practice, entrance exam practice etc.) for those applying to the most competitive universities and courses. We want everyone to leave KC Post 16 on track for the next step to achieving their goals and would welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can support you in chasing your dreams.
If you are interested in applying, please click here or if you have any questions or wish to visit, please contact one of us and we will be happy to assist you.
