KC Post 16 hold their first ever Business Breakfast networking event!

We were delighted to hold our first ever Business Breakfast for our Post 16 students on the 17th October. Every student was asked to consider which industries and potential employers they would like to meet with, and then the invites went out – and we waited and held our breath! Working with the company Proactive Education, we were thrilled with the response, hosting representatives from over 40 different local and national businesses and industries. Journalists from the BBC, clinical psychologists, dentists, doctors, members of the police force, bankers, architects, and dancers to name just a few came along to discuss their careers with our students – with the majority of students meeting at least two different speakers so they could really get a feel for the different jobs that may be out there.

All conversations were informal and took place in small groups and over drinks and pastries – so students felt relaxed and able to ask questions and talk freely. We would like to say a massive thanks to Proactive Education for helping us to organise such a wonderful event, and an even bigger thank you to all the people that gave up their time to come along and speak to our students. The feedback has simply been phenomenal, with our students thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to speak to people about their jobs; what their roles involve on a day-to-day basis, and how they got to the position they are in. Some of our more proactive students also took the opportunity to ask about work experience and shadowing opportunities too!

The Business Breakfast will now become an annual event at KC, as we offer our students a wonderful opportunity to really focus on their future careers, and we look forward to more croissants, tea, coffee and conversation this time next year!
