Key Stage 5

In the 6th Form students can study on either 1 year or 2 year courses. ICT is available at Intermediate and Advanced Levels.

OCR National Certificate Level 2

This course can be completed in one year.It is a qualification equivalent to 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, providing the student completes all 6 units and passes the course. This course allows students to develop a broad range of ICT skills which they can use in the workplace. They are also encouraged to work independently to produce solutions to problems using a wide range of ICT packages.

Applied ICT GCE

This is a natural progression from GCSE and the National Certificate, and allows students to develop a broad range of skills and knowledge relating to vocational ICT subjects. It also encourages students to develop a wide range of understanding in relation to different components, functions and applications of information systems relating to a range of organisations. This is done through problem solving and applying the theory to real-life tasks. In addition, the Applied ICT course encourages students to develop their understanding of software systems, design and network communications. The first year ‘AS’ course requires students to complete two units of portfolio work, and one unit is externally examined. To complete the ‘A2’ course the students have to produce a further two units of portfolio work and another examined unit.
