BBC School Report 2012

BBC School report 2012

For the third year in a row Kingsthorpe College is one of only two Schools in Northamptonshire taking part in BBC News Schools Report.

Over the course of the past five months three separate teams have been working on this year’s report. The students range from Year 7 to Year 12 and they have been producing several short news reports ready to present in the style of a formal TV news bulletin.

This year we have focused on 3 items of major interest to the people of Northampton:

  • The effect of the lengthy Kingsthorpe road works on local businesses.
  • The moving of the bus station to Fish market and its implications.
  • The decision to turn off many of Northampton’s street lights and the impact this has had.

For each report we have gone out on location to interview the public; this has taken our teams of young, budding reporters over a month to write, plan, produce, edit and upload all ready for the BBC Schools News Report Day on the 15th March. Look out for our final bulletin which we hope will be shown on Look East on this date. In addition some of our students will be talking on the breakfast show with Joe Pignatiello on Radio Northampton. Please tune in and listen out for us!
